How to publish a listing video on social media
Prepare listing videos for social publishing with a checklist for captions, cover images, disclosures, music rights, links, and final preview review.
In this guide
Finishing the render is only part of publishing. A strong file can still be paired with an outdated caption, an unreadable cover, or a link that opens the wrong listing. Use one repeatable handoff for every property.
Prepare the asset and its context together
Place the approved video, the selected cover image, and the final caption in the same listing folder. Include the property address or a clear internal identifier in the filenames. Write the approval date beside time-sensitive facts, especially the asking price, availability, and open-house schedule.
Select the version for your placement
Use the vertical export as a starting point for a full-screen short-form post. Try the square export where a feed layout benefits from it. Use the landscape file on a compatible property page or long-form video destination. Check the platform’s current upload interface rather than assuming every placement uses the same rules.
On YouTube, qualifying square or vertical videos up to three minutes can be classified as Shorts under the published rules. Your short listing sequence does not need to use that entire allowance.
Write a caption that adds information
Use a verified feature, relevant listing facts, and one clear action. For example: “Covered patio and an open main living area at [address]. View the listing details at [destination]. Contact [agent and brokerage] to arrange a showing.” Replace every bracket with approved information before posting.
Include staging or other alteration disclosures where required. Add the brokerage and license information your rules require. The caption builder helps assemble facts you provide; you remain responsible for their accuracy.
Check audio rights for the actual use
If you add music after export, confirm you may use it with that account, post type, and any paid promotion. A track available in one platform’s editor is not automatically licensed for a downloaded file or an advertisement elsewhere. Keep evidence of any separate license you obtain.
Run the final posting check
- Play the entire upload in the platform preview, with sound and muted.
- Check how the cover crops in the feed and profile view.
- Confirm text and disclosures remain readable around interface controls.
- Open the destination link on a phone.
- Recheck listing status and time-sensitive details.
- Save the published URL to your listing’s marketing record.
